We were beyond thrilled to represent Portland bridal beauty at the grand opening of BHLDN bridal boutique inside the Pearl District Anthropologie.  The store is absolutely gorgeous and the party was a rocking good time.  So many of our favorite wedding industry friends were there too!

The attendees had a wonderful time and since it was just a handful of vendors, there was a lot of interaction.  Here they are surveying all of the amazing pieces that can be rented from Something Borrowed Portland.

Shooting this lookbook for Elizabeth Dye‘s Painted Desert collection of wedding gowns was one of the most rewarding days I’ve had as a makeup artist and hair stylist.  I love her vision and passion and learn so much from being around her. Each gown has such personality and a life of its own.  I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them make their way around the world to different stockists for brides to try on.  The photo savant is Phil Chester, who always blows me away, frame by frame, with his incredible talent.  When we see an ordinary gravel road, he sees the perfect backdrop.  He is also incredibly fun to be around, especially when he’s excited about a shot.  “Yes! Do that thing again with your hand again! Yeah! I love it!”  The model in these images is Madeline Powell of Option Model and Media.  She is a joy to work with and heaven to look at.  I’m pretty sure that if a movie of Botticelli’s life were being made, she would be cast as the woman who inspired his Venus.  Feast your eyes on some of my favorite images from the collection…

This bridal editorial shoot was a magical dream come true.  Our photographer, Corinne Krogh, came up with the concept, feel and colors inspired by the most unique gown you will ever lay eyes on. We gasped when we saw it in real life!  The whole team was beyond thrilled to see our windy day at Horsethief Butte published in Magnolia Rouge Magazine (issue 9) and well as the Magnolia Rouge blog!  The beauty look for this shoot was very natural and subtle on the makeup with defined cheeks and peach lips. Hair was super textured and wind-whipped, much like a horse’s mane.  I love how it all came together!

Homespun Wedding as seen in Oregon Bride Magazine

I certainly love a big fancy wedding but there’s something so wonderful about an intimate at-home wedding that trumps everything. It seems so real and heartfelt and cozy! I was so excited to see that Oregon Bride Magazine loved it too.  This day and this couple were just FUN.  I love their style and I didn’t even have to travel outside my SE Portland neighborhood for the wedding!  My favorite things about this wedding were Jenni’s cherry stained lips, the little braid in her lovely red hair, her uh-mazing and totally gutsy / unique wedding shoes, Logan’s cool hipster groom style and hatchet groomsmen gifts, Jenni’s cat who got dressed up for the wedding by wearing a pearl necklace, their sweet getaway car, and looking through some seriously crazy photo booth pictures from the reception.
